Welcoming Golfing Greats the week of the Genesis Scottish Open 2023: The Ryder Cup Captain's Memorable Event at Gilmerton House
Here at Gilmerton House, we were thrilled to be the chosen venue for an exclusive gathering of golf's finest as legendary golfer Luke Donald hosted a prestigious Ryder Cup Captain’s Party during the Genesis Scottish Open 2023.
The event, held amidst the stunning backdrop of Gilmerton House, brought together top golfing talent. Those in attendance included European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and two of his vice-captains, Edoardo Molinari and Nicolas Colsaerts. All three were in the field that week for the Genesis Scottish Open at the nearby Renaissance Club.
The Ryder Cup Party, hosted by Luke Donald, a prominent figure in the golfing world and former world number one, illustrated his passion for the sport and his dedication to nurturing and supporting the next generation of golfing stars. The event was attended by prominent Ryder Cup contenders, renowned golfing professionals, and influential figures from the golfing community, making it a star-studded affair.
"It is an absolute honor to have hosted the Ryder Cup Hopefuls Party at Gilmerton House," said Luke Donald. "The Ryder Cup is a pinnacle event in the golfing world, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with some of the brightest talents aspiring to represent their countries in this prestigious competition. Gilmerton House provided the perfect setting for this special occasion, and I am grateful for their warm hospitality."

The camaraderie and passion for golf that filled the air further cemented the spirit of sportsmanship that lies at the heart of the Ryder Cup.
"Gilmerton House was honoured to have been the chosen destination for such an occasion," said Graham Booth, General Manager of Gilmerton House. "We take pride in providing a private haven where groups such as this can come together. This event reminded us of the Kinloch family’s long history with golf. Sir Alexander Kinloch and his three sons were one of the most notable foursomes in the county.”
As the evening unfolded, guests experienced the first-class hospitality that Gilmerton House is renowned for. The event proved to be a unique opportunity for the golfing community to come together, bond over their shared passion of golf, and create lasting memories during the Genesis Scottish Open week.
Meanwhile, as the Genesis Scottish Open week progressed, local favourite, Bob MacIntyre did everything he could, but an impressive birdie finish for McIlroy edged him out by one shot to win the Genesis Scottish Open. Their two approaches to the 18th were sensational and demonstrated how to play links golf. Huge Congratulations to Rory McIlroy on his Genesis Scottish Open success at The Renaissance Club.
